Activities and Services Near our Facility
A Stone’s Throw from the Motel!
Don’t miss the Manoir LeBoutillier, both a provincial and national
historic site. This building, completely restored in 2008, will bring
you into the world of John Le Boutillier - father, politician and
affluent businessman (1850). Relax in the Tea Salon or browse the
offerings of the craft shop, showcasing artists from the area. There is
also a small show venue - ask what is currently playing!
Discover a cultural jewel of the region, the cultural centre Le
Griffon. Born from the rescue of an ice house built in 1942, the centre
now hosts an art gallery, internet access, a permanent exhibit and a
great cafe with a maritime feel. Try some shrimps processed in
L’Anse-au-Griffon, with a great reputation in the area. Why not make
your way there from the motel on the pebble beach - it adds to the charm
of discovering the village.
A few kilometers away, the La Vallée and Le Portage trails offer a
unique decor in a peaceful setting. You may be lucky and spot some
wildlife, such as the black bear.
Need some adrenaline ? Griffon aventure, an outdoors outfitter,
offers exciting adventures on the water: river canoeing, wild water
canoeing and kayaking, rafting and canyoning. Its experienced team will
gladly assist you in choosing an activity to your liking.
Forillon National Park…
Don’t miss the breathtaking Cap-Bon-Ami with its cliffs and the
many marine birds that shelter there. For you early risers, this is
where the sunrises are most spectacular! Hikers, take the Mont St-Alban
trail up to the observation tower. At that height, you can see Canada’s
highest lighthouse in Cap-des-Rosiers, the Forillon peninsula and the
magnificient Percé Rock. An unequalled view!
Discover Gaspé’s heritage by visiting the Hyman General Store and
the Blanchette Homestead that will bring you back to the days of
powerful monopolistic fishing empires and the everyday life of
fishermen-farmers. In that sector, keep an eye out for whales, go for a
picnic, go out on a cruise or hike one of the many trails. Lastly, a
visit to the Park is incomplete without a stop at Penouille, a true gem
on a 2km sandspit.
